This new 24,000 square foot building was designed to serve the needs of the community for many years to come. The building was situated on the site in an anticipation of future development as a civic campus. A perceived 300 foot long concrete masonry wall separates the city hall and council chambers functions and helps define the building's public corridor as well as its two entries.

The building was designed with a northwest woodland character, to fit well within the local built and natural environments. It houses all the typical city departments, a large exposed-truss council chambers and new police facility. The public corridor flows at an angle to the 2-story, open trussed lobby bordered by large expanses of glass at its exterior side and a stepped public counter system at its interior side.

Simple, common building materials were used in creative ways to keep the costs down as well as give the building its uniqueness. Various colors and textures were used on the exterior surfaces as well as two different colors of metal roof panels. The building also contains a dry-bed stream that meanders from one entry, through the building at various locations to the other entry, conveying the city hall's connection to its surroundings.
