This 25,000 square foot facility completes a civic campus begun by Burlington’s police and Fire stations. The City Hall’s orientation and landscaping bring together buildings that originally turned their backs on each other.
Prior to design work, the consultant team completed a planning study, which included an analysis of several potential building sites, the development of a space needs forecast and the creation of a preliminary budget. Opened in summer 2007, the New City Hall gives all the departments formerly housed in different buildings a presence at public counters. The Council chamber includes amenities that allow it to work as a multi-function community meeting space. |
