This 23,000 square foot structure serves as a regional reference center for the Sno-Isle Library System. The floor plan incorporates a variety of library functions as well as community meeting facilities. It is organized around an internal circulation axis that continues outside of the building in the form of a walkway connecting to the street.
The park-like site, a former Christmas tree farm, was enhanced with a new trail system that rings the property and links it to adjacent neighborhoods. A series of benches further encourages outdoor use at the library.
The building's form borrows from many of the existing agricultural structures that define Marysville's past. A series of rooftop cupolas visually marks the internal circulation axis and admits natural light into the building. Materials were selected that support the "elegant barn" imagery with minimal maintenance.
