In May of 2000 the education and preschool wing at St. John's Church burned to the ground. Lewis Architecture + Interior Design was hired under direction of principal architect, John Cannon, to restore what remained and to continue design for a new facility. Working on a fast-track schedule with the City of Kirkland, we helped the church through all the code upgrade issues, getting the church habitable again by December of 2000.

Lewis Architecture + Interior Design took the lead role in the planning of the new 20,000 s.f. facility, working with numerous church committees, facilitating the planning and design process. The church spaces were designed to compliment the existing architecture and to be expanded to use the rest of the site, eventually replacing the older out dated buildings on the property.

St. John's new facility includes a total of 20,000 square feet of new and remodeled spaces for a fellowship Community Gathering Hall, a new kitchen, Christian Education, Youth Community, Shared community offices and work space, nursery and ancillary support spaces.
