LEWIS was given the challenge of designing an office on a small island waterfront site with sweeping views of Fishing Bay that fits the Client's life and work style as well as blends in with the scale and charm of the older surrounding community. Turn of the century forms and details were utilized to give this small office a residential feel and quality. Just 1,400 sq. ft., the office houses our client and one staff with full conference facilities on the upper level. The building rests on a 9" thick concrete monolith slab, cantilevering 6' each side, preserving portions of the site with ancient native archeological deposits. The roof is made of zinc with a 75-year life. The columns are seamless fiberglass. The site's only existing tree was preserved.
